Alex Farnoosh, M.D.

Dr. Farnoosh is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where he earned his M.S. degree and specialty certificate in Periodontology in 1974 and a Ph.D. in Pathology in 1978. He has taught at the University of Southern California (USC) since 1981, where he has held the title of Director of Doctoral and Post Doctoral courses. He also served as admissions chairman for the School of Dentistry. He was promoted to Tenured Associate Professor in 1988 and subsequently to Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontology.

Dr. Farnoosh is the inventor of patented methods to treat discolored and dark pigmented gums. His treatment methods have been featured in the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, and in The New York Times Best Seller Billion Dollar Smile by Dr. Bill Dorfman, dentist on ABC's Extreme Makeover.

Appearing in more than 40 other publications including the Journal of Periodontology, and Journal of Pathology, Dr. Farnoosh's research has garnered him nominations by the International Association of Dental Research for the Edward H. Hatton Award and by the American Academy of Periodontology for the Balint Orban Prize. He served as the American Association of Dental Research's Chairman of Scientific Programs and has lectured nationally and internationally.

Extensive Experience

Dr. Farnoosh has devoted over 25 years to the private practice of dental health, specializing in periodontics and dental implants for Beverly Hills residents. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the only board that certifies in the dental specialty of periodontics. Diplomates are required to maintain certification as both a dentist and peridontist after at least two years of postdoctoral study focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of periodontal diseases. To complement his years in the field, Dr. Farnoosh is a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and of American College of Oral Implantology, and maintains memberships in numerous professional organizations such as the American Academy of Periodontolgy, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Los Angeles Dental Society, and Beverly Hills Academy of Dentistry.
