Sylva Procházková M.D.

Dr. Sylva Procházková completed her studies at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, in 1990. After her studies, she worked as a house officer at the Eye Department in the hospital in Jindřichův Hradec. In 1994, she came to the Eye Clinic of the Faculty Hospital Královské Vinohrady in Prague to pursue her career in the field of eye microsurgery, where she stayed for 13 years. She obtained her first and second certifications in the field of ophthalmology in 1995 and 1999, respectively, at this Clinic. She was the head physician of the Centre for Refractive Surgery (ELAS), the head physician of the inpatient ward, and the head physician of operating theatres.

Dr. Procházková specializes in surgery of the eye’s anterior segment, cataract surgery, corneal transplantations, and refractive surgery. Her professional interests include the use of ultrasonic methods in eye examination and laser surgical methods (particularly the LASIK method), which she has been using since 1997. She also gave lectures on this topic at prestigious international congresses in Europe. She is an author and co-author of a number of scientific papers devoted to refractive surgery, surgery of the eye’s anterior segment, and the use of ultrasonic methods in eye examination. In 1998, she had an opportunity to work at the Eye Clinic of Humboldt University in Berlin. She also participated in a number of training courses in the framework of European ophthalmic congresses.
