Profile of sanatorium

In the northern and central region of Slovakia a complex facility for diagnosis and treatment of sterility at all levels had not been built up until the foundation of Sanatorium Helios SK. There were only special policlinics for treatment of infertility. These policlinics  used to send their patients for therapy into the centres in Bratislava or Kosice. It was not only time-consuming but also very expensive for the patients.

In the last 5 years infertile couples demanded for the development of the centre for assisted reproduction in central Slovakia. Many preparation activities had been accomplished  in order to build up the centre for complex diagnoses and treatment of infertility in Martin. Those activities included work and study stays of medical doctors at reputable clinics of assisted reproduction in the world, active presence at congresses and conferences dealing with infertility as well as interviews with the patients in everyday practice at clinics for infertile couples.

Naturally, we do not look after only the patients from our region, we also provide therapy for  patients from all parts of Slovakia.

Many of the contacts the doctors had gained during that period of time as well as the cooperation with non-governmental gynecological obstetric clinic Sanatorium Helios – SIVF in Brno contributed to the establishment of the private centre for assisted reproduction in Martin.

Sanatorium Helios – SIVF in Brno is a non-governmental gynecological institution which was founded in 1994. It provides complex therapy, routine gynecological practice, wide range of gynecological operations as well as special care for diagnosis and treatment of infertility. Sanatorium Helios– SIVF in Brno obtained internationally established certificate of quality process, so-called ISO 9001 (ISO – International Organisation for Standartization). ISO guarantees safety and quality of processes in IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) practise. With all these qualities it belongs to one of the best of its kind in the Czech Republic.

Besides ISO 9001 certificate our clinic has contracted a treaty for an IVF technology from Australia. This exclusive contract of IVF is the only activity of Sydney in Europe.

By adopting the most modern mini-incubators for cultivation of embryos and by changes of technologies, Sanatorium Helios has increased their success rate in IVF program.

In adition SIVF is one of the biggest and most modern centre of assisted reproduction  in the world (it yearly carries out more than 8.000 IVF cycles — this number is the annual rate of cycles per year in the whole Czech Republic) with success rates of above  50%.  IVF laboratories in Sydney are the most modern in the whole Australia. They have been equipped with state-of-the-art mini-incubators developped in Sydney IVF which led to the revolution in success rate of artificial pregnancy. SIVF runs its own research and introduces new protected under patent technologies in the area of assisted reproduction and molecular genetics. SIVF also has its own research unit where it produces important equipment and pharmaceutic preparations for laboratories. It also helps to keep the IVF success rate considerably high.

The development of Sanatorium Helios SK  was based on the demand for realization of treaty commitments between the doctors from Martin and Brno Sanatorium. Since the new non-governmental facility Sanatorium Helios SK  in Martin was given its sublicence by Sanatorium HELIOS – SIVF in Brno, therefore it uses the know-how of Brno Sanatorium. Furthermore, from its inception Sanatorium Helios SK  has been working under the supervizion of Czech and Australian specialist in order to keep the same level of quality and  IVF medical treatment. The activity of the assisted reproduction centre in Martin is based on the official contract with the health insurance companies and therefore the stable payments for the services performed in the centre should be guaranteed.

What Sanatorium Helios SK offers

Sanatorium Helios offers diagnosis and treatment of gyneacological diseases. The main task of this facility is to help infertile couples in their efforts for a longed-for child.

Apart from infertility treatments we provide diagnosis and therapy for common gyneacological illnesses. These illnesses may include irregular menstrual cycles, endometriosis, uterinal myomes, and inflammation of female genitals.

Endocrine, menopause and contraception advisory services are also available. Prevention exercises  in gyneacology is a very important part of our work in terms of medical check ups as well as prevention and care during a wonderful period when couples are expecting their babies.
