Surface replacement of hip joint is suitable for younger patients. The surface of femur head is only polished and a new “cap” is inserted made out of resistant metal. The original socket is milled and a new one is inserted from the same metal. The whole joint is not replaced, only the rubbing parts. A condition for this surgery is active age and femur in good state.     more »
