The first morning after my laser operation was the most beautiful morning in my life. It was a summer day with a cloudless sky, at 6 a.m. I looked out of the balcony and experienced the magic of perfect vision! All became so clear, so sharp! A 15-minute laser treatment and I can see every leaf on a tree. I see the windows of the plane flying above me over Prague 5! I can also see the score for a football match in the left corner of my TV set on my favourite Eurosport channel. I can see the bus numbers and number plates on cars. This is a wonderful feeling!
I am a 33-year-old Pole currently working in Prague. I learnt about the Refractive Centre from my colleagues at work. Many of them have undergone the operation and all of them recommended it to me. However, I was quite hesitant.
As a teenager my vision was perfect. My vision became impaired when I was 20-24. I started with 0.5 of a dioptre and ended up with -1.5 dioptres in both eyes. Of course, I asked myself whether it was worth taking an unnecessary risk when the defect does not impose any significant limitation to my life. I asked myself these questions many times. Finally, I decided to come to the Clinic for consultation.
When I met the staff of the Clinic, I was very impressed by their professionalism, advanced technology, open communication, and a wealth of information about the advantages and potential risks associated with the surgery.
On the same day, I was scheduled for the operation that was performed one month later and was painless. I spent the first 60 minutes in a waiting room where the nurse applied anaesthetic eye drops to my eyes. I thought I would be alone there. However, to my surprise, there were a lot of other people waiting for the same reason as me. I thought: “Oh, I’m lucky that I’m not here alone.”
After I had been given the eye drops, I was asked to come to the operating theatre. The surgery was performed in a highly professional manner. During the surgery, it is important that the patient cooperates with the surgeon and follows his/her instructions. It is amazing how the surgeon takes great care of each patient.
After the operation, I waited at the Clinic for 15 minutes, then the physician checked if everything was ok and then I was allowed to go home. In the evening, I applied eye drops in both eyes before going to bed. I did not feel any pain.
I woke up the next day. It was a wonderful feeling! I was scheduled for postoperative follow-up early that morning. The physician checked my eyes and said that I had 0 dioptres in both eyes. On the same day, I went to work.
I would like to thank the team of the Refractive Centre for their perfect and professional approach, surgery, and postoperative care.
