I am a 26-year-old girl. One year ago, I had severe nearsightedness. My dioptres were -5.25 in the right eye and -5.5 in the left eye. I used to wear contact lenses but gradually find them uncomfortable.
Both eyes became increasingly dry and I really could not tolerate contact lenses any longer. This was why I decided to undergo laser eye surgery.
I underwent the surgery using the Lasik method in February 2006 after having been given consent by my physician from the Refractive Centre. I had both eyes operated at a time so I did not need to return to Prague again from Switzerland which is quite far from the Czech Republic.
First I was quite afraid but I knew what I was going to undergo.
The intervention is painless and does not take long. Upon the surgery I was a bit uncertain since my vision immediately after the surgery was a bit defocused and I had to wait for improvement until the next day. When the effect of anaesthetics faded away, I felt pain in both eyes. I was also told by my physician that I must not rub my eyes or touch them with force. When I woke up next morning, all fears and worries dispelled as I could suddenly see everything clearly without glasses. Suddenly, I felt free and happy as never before.
I recommend this surgery to anyone no matter what their age will be. My life has changed dramatically after the surgery. It may sound a hackneyed phrase but it is true. Now everything seems so easy. I can travel more freely because I do not need to carry all that necessary stuff such as glasses, lenses, solutions, and drops. I can do any sport without fear of breaking glasses or loosing contact lenses.
Another great advantage is that when I open my eyes in the morning I do not need to search frantically for my glasses any more. Simply, I feel free, dynamic, and much more spontaneous. In my opinion, this surgery has no adverse effects, I am very happy that I underwent the surgery at the Refractive Centre and I know for sure that I will never regret it.
